WHO IT HELPS

Conditions We Treat with Ketamine

Ketamine has shown remarkable results for patients who haven't found adequate relief with traditional treatments — including antidepressants, therapy, or pain medications.

PTSD

Particularly important to our mission as a veteran-founded clinic. Ketamine can rapidly reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories and provide lasting relief from PTSD symptoms.

Treatment-Resistant Depression

For patients who haven't responded to antidepressants, ketamine works through a completely different mechanism — often producing noticeable improvement within hours of the first infusion.

Anxiety Disorders

Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and OCD have all shown strong responses to ketamine therapy. Many patients report a profound sense of calm and perspective shift following treatment.

Chronic Pain

Ketamine can interrupt chronic pain signals by blocking NMDA receptors. It has shown effectiveness for fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), neuropathic pain, and more.

Migraines

Ketamine infusions can break the cycle of refractory migraines and chronic headaches that have not responded to standard treatments. Many patients experience rapid reduction in headache frequency and intensity.

Suicidal Ideation

Ketamine is one of the only treatments shown to rapidly reduce suicidal thoughts — often within hours. For patients in acute crisis, it offers hope when other treatments have failed or take too long to act.

THE SCIENCE

What is Ketamine Therapy?

Ketamine is an FDA-approved anesthetic that, at sub-anesthetic doses, has proven to be one of the most powerful tools available for rapidly treating depression, PTSD, and chronic pain. Unlike traditional antidepressants that target serotonin, ketamine works by blocking NMDA receptors and triggering the growth of new synaptic connections in the brain — a process called neuroplasticity.

Speed

Traditional antidepressants take 4–6 weeks. Ketamine can begin working within hours to days — making it transformative for acute crises and treatment-resistant cases.

Mechanism

Ketamine blocks NMDA receptors and stimulates AMPA receptors, triggering a surge of glutamate that promotes new neural connections — literally rewiring stuck thought patterns.

Safety

Administered at sub-anesthetic doses under medical supervision, ketamine therapy has an excellent safety profile. You remain conscious throughout and are monitored by our clinical team.

THE PROCESS

How Ketamine Therapy Works at CMW

We ensure every patient is properly screened, prepared, and supported throughout their ketamine therapy journey.

1

Medical Screening

We begin with a comprehensive medical and psychiatric history review to confirm you're a good candidate. We discuss your goals, expectations, and any contraindications before proceeding.

2

Your Session

Sessions are administered in our comfortable, private clinic space. You relax in a reclining chair with an IV infusion running over 40–60 minutes. Our team monitors you throughout. Music and eye shades are often used to enhance the experience.

3

Integration & Follow-Up

Most treatment protocols involve a series of 6 infusions over 2–3 weeks for maximum benefit. We check in after each session, track your progress, and work with your existing care team as needed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ketamine therapy at Combat Medic Wellness.

Yes. Ketamine is an FDA-approved medication used legally in medical settings for decades. As an off-label treatment for depression, PTSD, and pain, it is legally prescribed and administered by licensed medical providers like our team at Combat Medic Wellness.
At the doses used for therapy, you may experience mild dissociative effects — a dreamlike state, altered perception of time, or visual changes. This is normal and expected. The experience is usually gentle and not frightening. Our team is present with you throughout to ensure your comfort and safety.
Most treatment protocols involve a series of 6 infusions given over 2–3 weeks. For pain and migraines, protocols may vary. Some patients need maintenance infusions every 1–3 months to sustain results. We tailor the protocol to your specific condition and response to treatment.
No. You must arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after each session. The dissociative effects can persist for 1–2 hours after the infusion ends. You should plan to rest for the remainder of the day. Most patients feel completely normal the next morning.
At the low, controlled doses used in clinical ketamine therapy, addiction risk is very low. Therapeutic ketamine is administered in a medical setting with careful oversight. We screen all patients thoroughly and would not recommend ketamine to those with a history of substance use disorder without appropriate support.
Most insurance plans do not currently cover ketamine infusions for psychiatric conditions or pain. Our pricing starts at $399 per session. We recommend discussing your specific situation during your consultation, and we can provide documentation for potential FSA/HSA reimbursement.
